You may see in our gallery a section of photos that have sunshelf written as a heading. What is a sunshelf you ask? What is it used for? Let us tell you about adding a one to your pool area.
What Is It?
A sunshelf is a shallow place on one side of your pool. It can be like a step, or just an area that is not as deep as the other areas of the pool. It can consist of just one step down, or there can be one step down to the sunshelf, and then steps from the sunshelf down into the pool. It can be designed in a geometric shape, or totally freeform to fit the design of your pool.
A sunshelf is kind of like a lounging area built right into your pool. It is also sometimes referred to as the tanning shelf, or a baja shelf. People who may like to lounge in the sun, but don’t enjoy a full swim, will enjoy hanging out in this shallow area. It also makes a great space for adults who may have small children. They can sit and relax while not having to worry about the small kids falling the the regular pool over their heads.
There are a bunch of options that you can customize when adding a sunshelf to your design. An umbrella holder can be designed to go right into the plan, keeping your guests out of the direct rays. Jets, bubblers, and massaging bubbles can be added to your shelf for an even more relaxing way to kick back. Your guests will be lining up to get a massage in your new pool. You can add custom tile work as well, making your pool into a one-of-a-kind work of art. Finish it off with some mood lighting and you’ve got yourself a dramatic space to entertain your company.
